Change is not always a good thing, but this time it is. ETS announced in 2019 a few changes on the TOEFL test that will actually benefit international students.
The test time will be shortened by 30 min, with no changes in the overall test format or questions types. As you can see in the chart below, there will be less questions in the Reading, Listening and Speaking sessions. According to ETS by lessening fatigue and improving focus and performance students would be able to show their best. The test maintains its quality and provides accurate information about the critical skills being measured.

You should continue studying the same way. Although the length of the test has been shortened to just 3 hours, the structure is the same. That way, only your best score will be sent to your University or any other organization you’ll be using the TOEFL test for.
ETS has also reduced the amount of time you’ll have to wait in case you decide to retake the test. If before August 2019 students would have to wait 12 days to retake TOEFL, now the waiting time is only 3 days. This gives you more opportunities to test, especially if you need to meet urgent deadlines and if you need a higher score.

A ETS também reduziu o tempo que você terá que esperar caso decida refazer o teste. Se antes de agosto de 2019 os alunos precisavam esperar 12 dias para refazer o TOEFL, agora o tempo de espera é de apenas 3 dias. Isso oferece aos estudantes maiores oportunidades no teste, especialmente se você precisar cumprir prazos urgentes e se precisar de uma pontuação mais alta.
