So What is TOEFL?
TOEFL is an acronym for Test of English as a Foreign Language, which is the official name of the test. If you are an international student pursuing an education in an English-speaking country, then you may need to take the test. This may sound terrifying at first, but that is okay. You can feel a little nervous. However, I have even better news; with excellent coaching from TOEFL Trainers, we will have you on your way in no time.
The test assesses your ability to speak and understand English by analyzing your skills in terms of reading, speaking, listening, and writing. These skills are needed to carry out your academic studies and tests to ensure that you succeed in your preferred course in a country where the curriculum is in English. Besides academics, TOEFL students can communicate effectively outside the classroom in day-to-day interactions. All you need is the Official TOEFL guide (IBT) as one of the required course books to start.
Over 10,000 colleges, universities and other institutions require applicants to take the TOEFL Test. Although TOEFL is accepted in the US, some immigration departments in other countries accept TOEFL scores to issue work permits and professional certification. A staggering number of 35 million people have already taken the TOEFL test to demonstrate their English language proficiency.
The TOEFL is available as a paper-based test or an internet-based test (IBT) with the latter being the most popular. If you are in a country with a limited internet connection, paper-based tests are also available. The test is comprised of four parts that are reading, writing, listening, and speaking with each section taking 17 minutes to hour to complete.
As with all tests, you are required to reach a specific score, but the cutline may vary depending on the college and the specific area of study.
